Today is the first day of our Thingyan Festival (Water Festival).
It is celebrated over 3 days before Myanmar New Year Day.
According to Myanmar calendar, New Year Day falls on every second week of April. There’s a tradition in Myanmar to celebrate the water festival all over the country for 3 days before New Year day by throwing water on each other.
Myanmars celebrate Thingyan Festival by sprinkling or pouring water on each other.
Water washes away the dirt and fifth and cleans up everything.
In pouring water on each other, ill will, evils and dangers of the old year are cleansed and new year will bring peace, prosperity and happiness.
